NOTICE: We’re in the process of migrating the NGEE-Tropics Data Archive to ESS-DIVE, the long-term data archive for BER/ESS. All public NGEE-Tropics datasets can be accessed in the new NGEE-Tropics Portal in ESS-DIVE, including after the NGEE-Tropics Data Archive is retired.

Dataset Information

Site ID: PR-EVR; PR-EVV; PR-Ica; PR-Sab

Site Name: El Verde Ridge; El Verde Valley; Icacos; Sabana

Variables: Water chemical composition

Date Range: March 30, 2016 - July 6, 2017

Description: Soil water geochemistry (cations, anions, pH) and stable isotope data collected in 2016 and 2017 at three sites in the Luquillo Mountains (El Yunque National Forest) Puerto Rico (El Verde, Icacos, Sabana research sites) before Hurricane Maria struck in late September 2017. Data represent a pre-hurricane baseline of the soil water biogeochemical and hydrological conditions from 10-cm to 70-cm depths. Samples were collected quarterly using macro-rhizon samplers and analyzed at the Los Alamos National Laboratory Geology and Geochemistry Research Laboratory using standard analytical methods.
