Description: This data package contains the leaf mass per area (LMA) data of leaves sampled for gas exchange measurements from the Bosque Protector San Lorenzo (PA-SLZ) NGEE Tropics site in Panama during February of 2017. Sunlit canopy leaves of the Apeiba membranacea, Guatteria dumetorum, Miconia borealis, Terminalia amazonia, Virola multiflora, and Vochysia ferruginea species were collected before dawn. Included in the zip file attached are two Excel metadata files and the LMA data file "2017_SLZ_LMA_ByAgeV2." The data has also been included in CSV format, "Panama2017_LMA.csv." Also included is a PDF with leaf sampling protocol. This data was collected as part of the 2017 Brookhaven National Lab and Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute leaf traits by age campaign. Related datasets include further sample details, leaf water potential, sap flow, leaf gas exchange, leaf spectra and leaf chemistry.
